What ActorBeacon does
ActorBeacon is a curated, source-backed professional-record catalogue for actors. It organizes factual professional records and connects displayed facts to reviewed public professional sources. It does not publish biographies, gossip, popularity rankings or talent assessments.
Professional-record data
Professional Snapshots may contain a professional/stage name, source-backed professional markets, current representation when positively supported, credits and roles, awards and nominations, festival records, professional links, source provenance, source-check dates and a Snapshot verification date.
Safe Facts v1 intentionally excludes age/date of birth, birthplace, nationality/citizenship, residence/current city, private contact information, family/private-life information, sensitive categories, criminal/offence information, personal finances, third-party actor images, press/interview/social content and talent/employability scoring.
Account data
If you create an ActorBeacon account, the service processes the data required to provide and secure that account. This currently includes your email address, Netlify Identity user ID, account role information, authentication/session data and security-related account state.
Your ActorBeacon product data
ActorBeacon may also store private account-linked product data: pending professional requests, the exact professional name submitted with a request, request timestamps, Watchlist actor IDs and Watchlist save timestamps. These records are associated with the Identity user ID and are not published as part of a Professional Snapshot.
Authentication cookies
Netlify Identity uses necessary authentication cookies to maintain signed-in sessions. See the Cookie Policy. ActorBeacon does not currently activate advertising, marketing or optional analytics cookies.
Service providers
ActorBeacon currently uses Netlify infrastructure for hosting, serverless functions, database services and authentication. The browser build currently retrieves the maintained Netlify Identity client module through the esm.sh package CDN. Ordinary network metadata can therefore be processed by infrastructure providers when requests are made to their services.
Purposes and data minimisation
Account data is used to authenticate users, authorize Admin access, provide private Watchlists and requests, protect the service from abuse and operate the requested ActorBeacon functionality. ActorBeacon is designed to keep account data separate from public Professional Snapshots and to store only data needed for those purposes.
Retention
Watchlist entries are retained until the user removes them or the related account/data is deleted. Pending request links are removed when the corresponding pending record is published or deleted. Account and security data are retained only as needed to operate, secure and administer the account, subject to applicable legal requirements and provider-level retention.
Professional-record legal basis and sources
For Professional Snapshots, ActorBeacon currently relies on GDPR Article 6(1)(f) legitimate interests. Actor information is obtained from selected public professional sources such as official sites, agencies/management, casting services, production/broadcaster pages, theatres, festivals, award bodies and appropriate professional databases.
Rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and other rights under applicable law. You do not need an ActorBeacon account to exercise privacy rights. ActorBeacon aims to respond without undue delay and, where the GDPR applies, within one month unless a lawful extension applies.
Use Data Rights & Corrections or email actorbeacon@gmail.com.
Automated decisions
ActorBeacon does not use Professional Snapshots to make automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects and does not rank actors or decide who should be cast or employed.
Complaints
You may lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority. In Croatia this is the Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency (AZOP).
This Privacy Notice reflects ActorBeacon’s current beta configuration. It may be updated when the service, processing activities or service providers materially change.
